Hey guys,

Sorry I haven't posted lately. I have been very busy with work and soccer lately.

Anyways, while I have been gone the EPL has had many great games. Everton had a good run, managing to get 6 points over Manchester United, and Chelsea. They did however loose to Tottenham who play Manchester City next.

Then next couple of weeks may prove decisive toward who will win title, and who will qualify for Europe.

Thanks and sorry for the wait for new post.

Manchester United vs. Portsmouth...

GLORY GLORY MANCHESTER UNITED!!!!

And the Red's go marching on, on, on to another win. But come on Portsmouth, I know your the bottom of the league but three own goals......pathetic! I mean, the deflection from Carrick's kick wasn't as avoidable as the others, but the first goal... DAVID JAMES WHERE WERE YOU?!?!?!?! His reaction time has to be a lot better than that if he wished to be England's number 1 this summer in South Africa.

But take nothing away from the Red Devils. They played great! And Rooney is on fire!!! Eight goals in five games! Can't buy talent like his! And Finally Berbatrov puts the ball in the back of the net without an open net.

But overall impression was a great entertaining match!

Good job Manchester United......

Change of plans...

Change of plans...

Instead of my original plans to review every premier league game i have decide to pick my top game of each match day and write about that. This way I can show my own thoughts more, instead of factual information. I will talk about how I thought players did.

I hope this will make this blog more personal and appealing.

Thanks...

Match Preview - February 6th 2010

Manchester United vs. Portsmouth 10:00 AM ET (Old Trafford)
Second place team Manchester United hope to clinch the top spot of the table by beating a struggling Portsmouth side at Old Trafford. Portsmouth are in last place and a win tomorrow would do them a world of good so I wouldn't write them off as. This is also a good chance for Manchester United to take advantage of Chelsea and put them under pressure against a strong Arsenal side.

The two sides have gained equal points in their last six games with four wins and two draws each.

Manchester City carry on their march to try to break into the top four of the table as they face Hull City who are trying to get out of the bottom three. England in Europe...

Currently the EPL has 3 teams still in the UEFA Champions League, those teams being, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Manchester United have made it to the finals in their last two years facing fellow English team Chelsea and the Spanish giants Barcelona. The Red Devils however were only able to win against rivals Chelsea in a dramatic penalty shoot out. However this season may not show history repeat itself as Manchester United sold Cristiano Ronaldo for a world record signing to Spanish Giants Real Madrid.

Arsenal on the other hand haven't been as successful as some of the other English clubs in their last few attempts at European glory. European glory for the Gunners seems unlikely at this stage in the clubs history but there is never a proper time to write a team off in a knock out stage competition like the Champions League.

Chelsea look hopeful in Europe with a solid team. They made it to semi finals last season and finals the season before that were they suffered an unfortunate defeat in penalty's. With a solid team the Blue's look in a good positions to make it to at least the semi finals of the competition.

These are the upcoming fixtures in the UEFA Champions League for the three English sides:
-AC Milan vs. Manchester United FC (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza)
2:45 PM ET, February 16th 2010
-FC Porto vs. Arsenal FC (Estádio do Dragão,)
2:45 PM ET, February 17th 2010
-FC Internazionale Milano vs. Chelsea FC (Stadio Giuseppe Meazza)
2:45 PM ET, February 24th 2010

Introductions

Hello readers, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jamie Brackpool, and I have recently been told by my father how much fun you can have blogging. He has been telling me for weeks that I should start up my own blog. The only problem was I had no idea what to write about. Then he told me that I should write about something that I am interested in. So I thought about all the things I liked. There were many things I came up with but one thing stood out to me... Soccer. But how could I fit this into my blog I thought? That's when I cam up with the idea of The Penalty Box.
The Penalty Box is a place for English Premier League soccer fans to catch up on the latest matches. There will be in depth match reports, and news involving players around the league.
If you liked my have any comments or suggestions about my blog feel free to email me them to me at chargersgoalie@hotmail.com.
